Jake Owen made a surprise appearance at a college party taking place near his show on Saturday (August 1st) at the Ohio State Fair. Jake made his way to the celebration where a group of college students were prepping for their big night at the concert. He even treated the students to a short acoustic performance, thanks to a guitar he borrowed from an OSU student.
And it all began with a simple tweet. OSU student Eric Bennett invited the singer to attend his 21st birthday party via Twitter. He got a quick reply and provided Jake with directions.
Bennett told Taste of Country, “He drove over with a couple of his friends and hung out for about a half hour with us.”
Jake later dedicated the song “Heaven” to the birthday boy. Eric said, “He gave an awesome intro . . . about how I tweeted at him that I was celebrating my birthday and how he showed up at my house and he said, ‘So I’m playing this song tonight for Eric.’ That made it even that much more special.”
Jake remains on Kenny Chesney‘s The Big Revival tour, along with playing fair and festival dates. He will be at Country On the River in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin on Friday (August 7th) and WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on Saturday (August 8th).
