The snow caused several early Thursday morning accidents.
Two tractor trailers jackknifed along the Pennsylvania Turnpike between the Butler Valley and Cranberry exits about 4 a.m., initially blocking all eastbound lanes. Backups extended for miles. The turnpike reopened five hours later about 9 a.m. There were no reported injuries.
There were four crashes on Interstate 79 southbound before 6:30 a.m., according to the Butler County 911 Center. No major injuries were reported in those crashes.
Crews also responded to a reported head-on crash on Mars-Evans City Road in Adams Township. It’s unclear if anyone was hurt.
The National Weather Service is forecasting little to no additional snow accumulation expected on Thursday but it will remain cold with highs only in the low 20s.
