The New York Islanders defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 last night. The Pens were sluggish in their return from the Christmas break. P.O. Joseph scored the lone Penguins goal, it was his second of the season. They did not score on a power play for the first time in 11 games.
Defenseman Chad Ruhwedel left the game in the second period with an upper body injury.
The loss has dropped the Pens to fourth place in the Metropolitan Division behind Washington. They have returned home and will host the Detroit Red Wings tonight at 7:30pm. WISR will join the game following Knoch basketball.
