State police are once again reminding people to be aware of a rash of IRS phone scam calls.
The scheme usually includes callers who claim to be IRS employees and request personal information. According to statistics from the Federal Trade Commission, over 3,000 people have been defrauded out of over $15 million nationwide.
The IRS will never threaten arrest or request credit or debit card numbers over the phone. The IRS also does not use unsolicited email, email or text messages to discuss personal taxes.
