The Department of Education has announced that intern certifications for teachers will now be available at no cost.
Previously, those looking to get their teaching intern certificate would have to pay $200 then another $200 once they completed their educator prep program to receive their instructional certificates.
These certificates are alternatives for emergency permits that saw a 27% increase in these types of permits in 2022-23.
The clearing of this fee aims to help lower the amount emergency permits and increase the number of instructional certificates.
