The new top administrator of the VA Butler Health Care system is a familiar face to the employees and veterans of the local community.
Sharon Coyle was appointed to the position of Interim Director about a month ago.
“I’ve been appointed to the role until mid-October,” Coyle said in an interview Wednesday with Butler Radio.
Coyle was already in a position of leadership within the system, serving as the system’s Nurse Executive for the past 13 years.
“I’ve been at VA Butler for many years,” she said.
Coyle began her career at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) in 1999 as a nursing VALOR student. She held various positions of responsibility with VAPHS before coming to the Butler VA. Coyle was appointed to serve as the Associate Director for Patient Care Services for the Butler VA in April 2007.
Coyle received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Duquesne University. She obtained her master’s degree in Business Administration and master’s degree in Nursing at Waynesburg College.
Former Director Jon Lasell Jr. stepped down in June in order to return to Texas and provide care for his aging father.
The Butler VA Health Care System has been attending to veteran’s care in Butler County since 1947.
