An injured bald eagle found in Armstrong County a week ago has died.
Authorities say “Kiski” – nicknamed for the township in which he was found- was captured last week by a state parks ranger and taken to a clinic in Crawford County where he was diagnosed with lead poisoning.
It’s believed he ingested a bullet while eating the carcass of an animal shot by a hunter, which officials say is a growing problem for the state’s bald eagle population.
The Crawford clinic announced the bird’s death on Sunday. They say the animal was brought from Saskatchewan for reintroduction efforts, at a time when there were only three nests of eagles in Pennsylvania.
