Economists in Pennsylvania are offering their thoughts on how to increase the workforce in the Keystone State.
Matthew Knittel is the director of the Independent Fiscal Office and he testified before the state Senate that providing more money for childcare could be one way to re-engage women in the workforce.
“Disproportionately job losses are female. Childcare that can be made available could attract some individuals back into the laborforce that cannot take advantage of it currently,” Knittel said.
Knittel says that targeted relief for small businesses is another way to help the workforce. He also encourages a plan to help retain college students in the state after they graduate.
