Bridges and overpasses seemed to give drivers the biggest problems on Thursday morning.
“Accidents seemed to be happening in areas where there were bridges. Bridges were freezing before the roads were,” Butler County Emergency Services Director Steve Bicehouse said in an interview late Thursday morning.
A portion of General Richard Butler Bridge heading into downtown Butler was partially closed because of icy conditions. There was another accident on Route 8 in Penn Township at the bottom of McBride Hill.
“I came through there this morning and it was very, very slippery,” Bicehouse said.
As far as when conditions could change over to snow…
“It all depends on the ‘upper level,’ he said. “The National Weather told us that there’s warm air in the upper level and it’s keeping the snow from coming.”
Butler County remains under a Winter Weather Advisory through early Friday.
