An accident involving a tractor trailer blocked a portion of Interstate 80 just north of Butler County late Friday morning. It is always an inconvenience whenever a vehicle this size is involved in an incident or breaks down as they are so large, it’s not as simple as moving cars out the way and specialist Truck Towing & Repair services are needed.
Clintonville Fire Chief Gerry Rea said the crash happened just before 10 a.m. on the westbound side of I-80 in Irwin Township, Venango County, specifically at the 31.5 mile marker.
“A semi and a car collided,” Rea told our newsroom. “Interstate 80 westbound is completely closed. We’re trying to get it opened up.”
Rea said the back of the vehicle was actually stuck under the semi truck’s trailer. Miraculously, he says no one was injured.
This isn’t usually the case when it comes to crashes involving tractor trailers, especially when the vehicle gets stuck under the truck. It is very lucky that in this case, no one was injured and no serious medical attention was needed for either party.
Even though no one was injured, the people involved in the crash still had to be check up on by an ambulance crew that arrived on scene. Crews had I-80 reopened by 12:15 p.m.
