The new hotel in downtown Butler has pushed back its opening date, again.
According to a letter presented to the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler, the new Marriott Springhill Suites, which was constructed as part of the Centre City Project, will now open on Nov. 1.
Previous estimated dates of completion included March of 2017, May of 2017, and most recently August of this year.
An update from the construction manager indicated that various aspects of the project are moving forward including nearly all of the drywall being in place, much of the work completed on the upper floors as as most contractors will begin on top floor and work their way down, and work beginning on pool equipment instillation. The retaining wall and fence have been installed and exterior concrete will be poured in a couple weeks.
This additional delay could affect the city’s ability to begin to repay some funding for the Centre City project, which was expected to begin in September. The Rural Community Assistance Program (RCAP) Representative handing this project could choose to call a meeting to discuss how this delay will affect repayment.
