Sick of the heat yet?
The National Weather Service is forecasting another warm week of weather ahead, with temperatures near the 90s and the heat index even higher.
“The heat index will approach 100 degrees again during the afternoon hours on Tuesday through Thursday. A heat advisory may be needed during some of those periods,” according to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the NWS.
Before the extreme heat in the middle part of the week comes the rain. There is a chance for an afternoon shower and thunderstorm, with some storms being severe.
“Heavy rain will be possible with isolated to scattered thunderstorm development on Monday, with a slight risk of localized flooding,” according to the NWS.
A high of 88 degrees is expected on Monday. If you are a member of the Central Electric Cooperative, you’re asked to conserve power today, especially between the house of 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
“CEC does everything it can to keep electricity affordable for members. If the co-op can reduce electricity purchased during high-demand periods, it helps keep energy costs stable for all members,” according to CEC’s peak alert announcement.
On Tuesday, a high near 90 is forecasted with partly sunny skies. No break on July 4, with a high near 89 degrees.
