A Mars woman was sentenced after pleading guilty to mail fraud and filing a false tax return.
Pamela Vivirito, 47, was sentenced Thursday to five months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. She was also ordered to pay $20,000 in restitution.
Vivirito operated a not-for-profit charity called Equine Angels Rescue, which collected contributions to rescue and rehabilitate horses. Vivirito is accused of fraudulently soliciting donations and using them for personal expenses. She also allegedly claimed a much lower income on her tax return than she actually received.
