Members of Butler County Community College will come together this evening for a night of fun, and hopefully inspiration.
It’s the school’s first-ever ‘Hope Night,’ which is connected to the school’s ‘Hope is Dope’ initiative to combat the opioid crisis in our community.
On Monday, Dec. 10 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Butler Art Center will be open to the public for free. There will be finger painting and watercolor activities, as well as music from Washboard Tony and food.
” ‘Hope Night’ is not just about recovery from addiction, it’s about hope for our entire community,” BC3’s Tracy Hack said in an interview. “We want to educate people on what really goes on in the brain of an addict.”
Whether you participated in BC3’s ‘Hope is Dope’ classes, or you’re just interested in helping someone, or yourself, get through an addiction, you’re invited tonight.
“This is all about changing our perceptions into something more hopeful,” Hack said. “You can recover from addiction, and you can actually be cured from it. The definition of cured is the ‘absence of symptoms’.”
This is the first ‘Hope Night’ but BC3 hopes to have one monthly going forward.
