It’s usually police or fire officials offering reminders to people to ensure safety during the holidays, but now the tips are coming from an insurance official.
Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Teresa Miller says enjoying yourself boils down to two main themes- moderation and common sense.
“If you have friends or family over, you want to make sure they get home safely,” Miller says. “If they have had too much too drink or they are too tired…you may be liable if something happens to them after they leave your home.”
Miller also encourages those expecting an expensive gift or planning to travel, to not make a big deal of it on social media.
“Make sure you’re not telling people on social media that you are away from home,” she says.
She reminds you that when you take to social media, often times people other than your online friends are paying attention.
