The state Department of Labor and Industry is taking a look at job prospects now that the holiday season is upon us.
Hiring by retailers is expected to be strong between now and Christmas, but not as strong as in recent years.
This is partly due to the already low unemployment rate, but you can also blame the popularity in online retail, according to Scott Meckley, Labor Market Analyst for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry.
Areas expected to see extra hiring this year include merchandising warehouses as well as the companies whose jobs will be delivering all that merchandise.
Meckley says this is a trend he expects to continue.
