With temperatures rising into the high 80s and the heat index into the 90s, Central Electric Cooperative has issued a peak alert for today.
CEC members are asked to conserve electricity until 6 p.m. by turning off all non-essential electric items, especially lighting, dehumidifiers, and pool pumps. They also urge members to set their air conditioners to a minimum of 78 degrees.
The cooperative serves a portion of Butler County.
