–Butler-9 Central Catholic-7.
–Knoch-5 Deer Lakes-4. (13-innings !) Ben McMillen hit a walk-off double to give the Knights their seventh victory in a row. Knoch is now 7-2 overall, 5-1 in Class 4A Section-3. Deer Lakes drops to 7-3, 5-1.
–Indiana-10 Freeport-8.
–Pine-Richland-7 North Allegheny-1. First loss of the season for N.A. – who fall to 8-1 and 3-1 in Class 6A Section-1. Pine-Richland remains undefeated in the section a 4-0 and are now 10-1 overall.
–Seneca Valley-5 Shaler-1
–Mars-3 Fox Chapel-2.
–Armstrong-15 Obama Academy-5. (5-innings, 10-run rule).
–Neshannock-9 CW North Catholic-1.
The Butler JV baseball team defeated Central Catholic 3-2. Butler’s Shawn Marcellus went a complete seven innings, walking one and striking out seven. Grant Metzger had a hit and two RBI. Chris Zidek added the other run. Butler JV is now 4-2 overall, and 2-1 in their section.
Softball:
–Mars-6 Oakland Catholic-4.
–Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic-12 Greensburg Central Catholic-1 (5-innings, 10-run rule).
–Deer Lakes-11 Armstrong-5.
–AC Valley-7 Clarion-2. Cami McNany and Kelsie Terwilliger had three hits, including a double, each for ACV.
–Moniteau boys track and field team defeated Clarion Limestone 103-47 and AC Valley 129-16.
Slippery Rock University softball team swept a doubleheader from Clarion Wednesday. Scores were 15-7 and 8-3. The Rock have now won five games in a row. With the wins, The Rock improves to 15-18 overall. Clarion falls to 5-35 on the year.
Emily Nagle produced back-to-back four-hit games against the Golden Eagles to increase her season total to 56 hits, which is just four shy of the SRU single-season record set by head coach Stacey Rice in 2007. Nagle is now batting a conference-best .463 this spring.
