Elle Santora of Knoch won the Section-3 Class-2A WPIAL Singles Sectional Tuesday. Santora defeated Kelsey Heckert of Indiana 6-2, 6-0 in the championship match. She moves on to the WPIAL championship.

Freeport-13 Derry-0. Bryce Hanby scored six goals for the Yellow Jackets. Seth Davis added two. Freeport is now 12-1-1 overall and 10-0-1 in section play.

Girls Volleyball:
Butler-3 Pine-Richland-2. (25-22, 16-25, 26-24, 22-25, 15-8).
First time in over 10 years the Butler girls have defeated the Rams.
Butler led by Caitlin Martin who had 14 kills, 14 digs and three aces. Erin Fullerton who had eight kills, two blocks and five digs, Julia Gibson who had seven kills, one block and two digs. Butler will visit North Allegheny Thursday.

The big end of the year meet for three of the Butler County middle school cross country teams is hosted by North Allegheny. The NA Invitational hosted 12 teams and over 450 runners in four races. Butler County runners were heavily represented in this race. These local athletes collectively brought back 4 medals and 34 ribbons back to Butler County. Daniel Deal, Jr. (Knoch), led the Butler County runners, finishing 6th overall. Cole Lyons (Butler), finished 15th overall and Luke Klutschkowski (Knoch), finished 17th overall. Deal, Lyons, and Klutschkowski all medaled. Sophia Colonello, of Seneca Valley, led the Butler County runners, finishing 18 overall, medaling.
