High School Sports from Wednesday:
The Seneca Valley wrestlers fell to Shaler 37-30 int he WPIAL Class Triple-A Section 3 Championship last night. Seneca Valley reached the title match by defeating North Hills 30-29 earlier in the evening, while North Hills defeated North Allegheny 34-33. All four teams advance to the WPIAL finals along with Butler who defeated Fox Chapel 36-24 in the fifth-place consolation match.
In a non-section match last night: Knoch defeated Summit Academy 60-24.
Boys Basketball:
Karns City-53 Keystone-36. Moniteau-66 AC Valley-44. Pine-Richland-80 Perry-60. Woodland Hills-47 Armstrong-39.
The Butler Boys Bowling team defeated Knoch 5-2 Wednesday at Family Bowlaway. Nick Huff led Butler with a 649 series, that included high games of 229 & 228. Hunter Lefever added a 633 series and high game of 237. Shawn Marcellus rolled a 596 series and high game of 235. Derek McGill led Knoch with a 627 series and a pair of 214 games. Bryan Hindman added a 222 game. Butler improved to 7-1 overall. Knoch fell to 5-3. (Match totals: Butler-2941 Knoch-2667.)
The Butler Girls Bowling team swept Knoch 7-0. Ashley McCue led Butler with a 546 series and high game of 193. Chelsea Cimbala led the Knights with a 437 series. Butler improved to 6-2. Knoch fell to 2-6. Match total: Butler-2334 Knoch-1623.
Butler will host Armstrong for Senior Night next Wednesday at Family Bowlaway.
Knoch will visit Mars.
The Armstrong Boys swept Seneca Valley 7-0, while the Armstrong Girls won 5-2.
The Knoch swim teams swpet Riverside.
