WPIAL Track Playoffs:
–The Butler girls swept West Allegheny, Latrobe and Kiski Area and move on to the WPIAL championship Monday at Baldwin. Prior to that, they will compete in the 44th annual Baldwin Invitational Friday.
–Winners for Butler: Jena Reinheimer in the shot-put and discus. Alexis Leech added first place finsihesd in
the 200 and 400-meter runs. Taylor Weaver won the pole vault. Liz Simms won the 800 and Maggie Welty won the 1600-meter run. Tabby Wilbert won the 100-meter hurdles, Shana Hoy won the 100-meter run. The Butler girls dominated the relays: winning the 400-meter relay (Savannah Miller, Maggie Hohn, Maddie Glew and Shana Hoy), 1600-meter relay (Maddie Tonini, Shana Hoy, Liz Simms and Alexis Leech), and 3200-meter relay (Alexis Leech, Erin LeMay, Maggie Welter and Liz Simms.
–North Allegheny girls swept Moon, Chartiers Valley and Hampton.
–The Freeport girls swept Quaker Valley, California and Southmoreland.
–The Seneca Valley boys swept New Castle, Kiski Area and Latrobe in their semi-finals meet. North Allegheny swept Penn Hills, Chartiers Valley, Beaver and Mars. Freeport swept Southmoreland and Quaker Valley.
Non-section play: Moniteau boys defeated Knoch 78-72. Knoch’s Jordan Geist had a discus throw over 201 feet and won the event by more than 70 feet.
Girls Lacrosse:
–Norwin-17 Freeport-4. Chrissy Conklin had two goals for the Yellow Jackets. Cassie Suhan made 29 saves.
–Latrobe-10 Freeport-5. Cameron Lindsay had three goals for the Yellow Jackets on Monday.
