High School Sports Scores from Tuesday:
The Butler Boys Basketball team fell to Section-3 opponent Central Catholic 81-63 last night at home. The loss dropped Butler to 14-6 overall and 6-5 in section play. With the loss, Butler is forced into a must-win versus Seneca Valley Friday night to have a shot at post-season play.
Butler is now tied with North Allegheny in Section-3, after N.A. defeated Seneca Valley 74-48 last night. North Hills defeated Pine-Richland 79-67. The victory moved North Hills into a second place tie in Section-3 with the Rams. Both teams are now a half game behind Central Catholic with a game to play. North Hills will host North Allegheny Friday. If North Hills wins, they would tie for their first section title in 33 years. An N.A. loss and Butler win would send the Golden Tornado to the playoffs.
Mars defeated Knoch 72-43. Freeport-69 Deer Lakes-49. North Catholic-78 Vincentian-47. Meadville-80 Grove City-71.
Karns City defeated Moniteau 50-37. Karns City needs to win three of their remaining four games to qualify for the playoffs. AC Valley fell to Union 68-35. Union clinched the KSAC-South with the win.
Rifle: Butler defeated Plum 796-789. Top Shooters for Butler: Matt Corlew, Brendan Lefevre, Cameron Tack, Luke Montag and Luke McEachin all shooting 100’s.
Congratulations to local bowler Brian Johnson who rolled his first career 300 Tuesday during the Strikes and Spares League at Family Bowlaway. He finished the night with a 727 series.
