The Knoch Knights boys basketball team won the Armstrong tournament with victories over Deer Lakes Friday and then over host team 49-39 Saturday.
The Armstrong girls won their tournament with a 27-26 win over West Shamokin. Butler won the consolation game with a 58-30 victory over Deer Lakes.
The Mars girls won the Slippery Rock tournament with a 68-43 win over Keystone in the title game. Mars head coach Dana Petruska picked up her 400th career victory with the tournament championship. Slippery Rock won the consolation game 49-4 over Keystone.
The Karns City girls won the consolation game of the Indiana tournament with a 50-42 victory over Johnstown.
The Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic girls won the Oakland Catholic tournament with a victory over the host team 50-28.
Seneca Valley won the consolation game of their tournament 61-38 over Burrell.
The Butler boys basketball team will host Burrell tonight for a 7:30pm tip-off. Pre-game on WBUT 1050am (and at wbut.com) will be 7:15pm with Tyler Friel.
The Butler high school boys and girls bowling teams improved to 2-0 Friday with a sweep of Seneca Valley at Mars Lanes.
The Butler boys won 7-0 and were led by senior Logan Wells who rolled a 586 series with a high game of 213 in first career varsity start. Senior Nick Huff had the high game of the day among all bowlers with a 234. He finished with a 564 series. Freshman Chris Huff had a 562 series with a high game 201.
Derek Weaver led Seneca Valley with a 508 series and a high game of 223.
The Butler girls were led by junior Mercedes Belch who rolled a 525 series and high game of 184.
Maddie Ferringer led Seneca Valley with a 499 series.
