High School Sports:
WPIAL Baseball Playoffs:
–Freeport (13-5) will meet Waynesburg (12-5) at Latrobe high school today in the 3A quarterfinals. First pitch is 6pm.
Historic Pullman Park will be hosting three playoff games today beginning at 2pm. Union and St. Joseph will play in the 1A quarterfinals, followed by a 4A matchup between Highlands and Beaver. Shenango and Laurel play in the 2A quarterfinals at 7pm.
Tuesday –
–Butler and North Allegheny will play at Fox Chapel high school in the 6A quarterfinals. Game time is 4pm.
–Seneca Valley and Bethel Park will play at Boyce Mayview Park in Upper St. Clair at 4pm, followed by Pine-Richland and Norwin at 6:30pm.
–In the 5A quarterfinals Tuesday – Mars and West Allegheny will play in Robinson Township at 6:30pm.
Softball:
–Knoch (16-1) will face Greensburg Salem (7-11) at Hampton today at 3pm in the WPIAL 4A quarterfinals.
Friday in the District-9 Track & Field Championships – Moniteau’s James Parenti set a meet record in the Discus with a throw of 171-10. That topped the previous meet record of 171-6 set in 2003. Parenti was the runner-up in the Shot Put.
Moniteau’s Kyle Norling won the 2A Pole Vault. Karns City’s Hunter Jones won the 2A 400-meter dash. Karns City’s Sara Knox won the Girls Discus. Kylee Eaton of AC Valley won the 2A Girls Shot Put.
Boys Lacrosse:
–Mars and Freeport play in the 2A semifinals tonight at Fox Chapel. Game time is 6pm.
–In 3A: North Allegheny faces Mt. Lebanon at Moon high school. Pine-Richland will meet Shady Side Academy at Mars high school. Both matches begin at 7:30pm. The Pine-Richland Girls will face Upper St. Clair at Mars high school at 6pm.
