WPIAL Baseball Playoffs:
–Freeport defeated Waynesburg 1-0 in the 3A quarterfinals. Jarrett Heilman tossed a one-hitter for the Yellow Jackets. He struck out 11 batters. Freeport improved to 14-5.
Tonight in the Baseball 6A quarterfinals:
–Butler (7-13) will meet North Allegheny (15-5) at Fox Chapel high school. Game time is 6pm.
–Seneca Valley (13-6) will face Bethel Park (14-3) at Boyce Mayview Park in Upper St. Clair at 4pm.
–Pine-Richland (15-4) will meet Norwin (14-6) in Upper St. Clair at 6:30pm.
In the 5A quarterfinals:
–Mars (11-8) will meet West Allegheny (18-2) in Robinson Township at 6:30pm.
The District-9 baseball playoffs begin tonight. Karns City will meet Redbank Valley at Historic Pullman Park at 4pm. Moniteau and Cranberry play at 6:30pm.
WPIAL Softball Playoffs:
–Knoch defeated Greensburg Salem 12-2 in six innings in the 4A quarterfinals. Knoch had an eight-run sixth inning to trigger the 10-run rule. The Knights improved to 17-1 and will meet Elizabeth Forward in the semifinals Wednesday.
District-9 Softball Playoffs:
–Cranberry eliminated Moniteau 9-3 in the 2A First Round.
–AC Valley will meet Elk County Christian tonight in the 1A quarterfinals. The game will be played at West Freedom at 4pm.
Karns City is the top seed in District-9 Class 3A. They will play in the D9 title game Wednesday, May 29th. Brookville and Clearfield play tomorrow in the semifinal game.
WPIAL Boys Lacrosse Playoffs:
–Mars defeated Freeport 19-5 in the 2A semifinals. The Planets will meet Hampton in the championship game Friday at Robert Morris University at 6pm.
–Hampton defeated Quaker Valley 9-6 in the other semifinal.
–Pine-Richland defeated Shady Side Academy 9-6. The Rams will meet Mt. Lebanon in the 3A championship Friday at Robert Morris University.
–North Allegheny lost to Mt. Lebanon 10-8.
WPIAL Girls Lacrosse:
–Upper St. Clair eliminated Pine-Richland 13-7 in the 3A semifinals last night.
