Butler Area School District may choose to dismiss early this week due to heat concerns.
According to a message from Superintendent Dr. Brian White, an outdoor forecast of temperatures over 90 degrees could result in some schools becoming even hotter.
Due to the risk of prolonged exposure to dangerous heat, White could choose to dismiss all Butler schools two hours early. Any decision to do this will be made by 6 p.m. the day before the dismissal so advance notice can be given to allow for child care arrangements. Lunch will still be served and early dismissal days will still count as a full day of school.
The district has purchased many new window AC units but district administration will continue to work with the school board to develop long term solutions.
