After a bit of a reprieve from warm and humid conditions over the past week, the summertime heat is rearing its head this week.
AccuWeather is predicting a week of temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, along with increased humidity.
In the immediate future, Tuesday and Wednesday will see temperatures in the upper 80s in Butler, followed by showers and thunderstorms Wednesday night that could briefly cool off conditions for Thursday.
With the hot temperatures, Central Electric Cooperative has issued a peak alert. They’re asking customers to conserve energy by turning off non-essential electric items and raising your thermostat a few degrees. They also say to shift the use of items such as dehumidifiers, pool pumps, and electric appliances to hours outside of the peak period.
However, Western Pennsylvania may be spared from the significant heat, which appears to be targeting the I-95 corridor. Those areas could potentially be looking at a five day stretch where temperatures rise above 90 degrees.
But temperatures locally are expected to rise by the end of the week back into the upper 80s again.
