Local residents are doing what they can to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Randy Reamer is a truck driver with West Central Equipment and a Buffalo Township volunteer firefighter.
“There’s a group of five of us going down,” Reamer said. “It’s just Americans helping Americans. I felt the need that I had to help someone.”
Reamer’s group plans to head out on Friday, Sept. 8 to help with rescue efforts. Anyone interested in making a monetary donation in support of his trip is asked to stop by West Central Equipment on Pittsburgh Road in Butler Township.
Connoquenessing business owner Buddy Hindman of Hindman Trucking will hold a collection of items this weekend, fill up one of his tractor trailers, and travel to a small Texas town next week.
Natascha Cratty of Butler also decided to help lead efforts to help. Her group is filling up a tractor trailer with supplies. The truck is currently parked in the Regal Cinemas parking lot at Moraine Point Plaza in Butler.
“We are not affiliated with any kind of organization or business,” Cratty said. “We’re just everyday people thinking, ‘what can we do to pay if forward?’”
