The Pittsburgh Pirates pitchers were hammered by the Washington Nationals for the second consecutive game, with the Bucs losing last night 9-3. Bryce Harper and former Slippery Rock University star Matt Adams combined for five hits, five RBI’s and four runs scored in the game. Pirate starter Ivan Nova allowed five earned runs, eight total, on 11 hits. Gregory Polanco, Starling Marte and Corey Dickerson had two hits a piece for the Pirates.
The Bucs and Nationals wrap-up their four-game series today at 1:05pm. WISR will join the broadcast after “It’s Your Turn with Dave Malarkey”. Trevor Williams is the starter for the Pirates today. The Bucs head to Milwaukee following the game.
The Pirates are 17-14 overall. They are just 1-1/2 games out of first place in the National League Central Division, but have falled to fourth place.
