Harmony will hold its annual German-style end-of-year celebration on Monday.
‘Silvester’ will feature several activities this afternoon and evening- including a 5K; a Christmas wreath-tossing contest; a pork and sauerkraut dinner; a ball drop and fireworks.
The event is called ‘Silvester’ because Harmony was founded by the Germans and New Year’s Eve is called ‘Silvester’ in Germany. Each year in Harmony, the town celebrates the event on German time, with the ball drop and fireworks happening at 6 p.m.
The event also serves as a year-end fundraising opportunity for the town’s nonprofit museum- the Harmony Museum- and the town’s parks.
