An event this weekend will help you get rid of hard-to-recycle items around the house.
The PA Resources Council is holding the recycling event Saturday at Karns City High School. Josh Schuneman is helping organize the event and provides some of the items that will be accepted.
“Things like consumer electronics like TVs, computers, laptops, keyboards, and all those old charging cables that shouldn’t be going into the ground,” Schuneman said. “Materials that we commonly refer to a styrofoam, microwave ovens, video games, hard tires, stuff like that.”
Schuneman says as electronics become more prevalent, these recycling events are becoming more popular. But, Pennsylvania has a good history with these events.
“It is becoming more of a problem, but the state’s been addressing this problem for quite some time. Pennsylvania has had recycling laws on the books for over 20 years, which shows that we as a community are continuing to work hard to address these issues and this Saturday will be another great opportunity to showcase that,” Schuneman said.
The event is done via drive-thru, but you must register in advance on the PA Resources Council website or by calling 412.488.7490
