Hank Williams, Jr.’s 37th studio album, It’s About Time, arrives at retail today (Friday, January 15th), and it includes the legendary singer’s current release “Are You Ready For The Country,” featuring Eric Church.
It’s About Time is Hank Jr.’s first release on Nash Icon Records. He has released a lot of albums over the years, but Hank says he has more excitement about the launch of It’s About Timethan any other. “There’s not a little more. It’s completely on or completely off. It’s completely on. Not a little more. In 2016 I’m about to have another Platinum album. That’s unheard of. I’m getting ready to have another Platinum album, so heck yeah, this team is 100 percent.”
The Platinum album Hank is referring to is his 2006 album, That’s How They Do It In Dixie – The Essential Collection.
Hank Jr. will be the focus of Audience All Access on DirecTV on Sunday (January 17th) at 8 p.m. ET. The show will feature a performance by Bocephus from the barn on his Tennessee property, along with a special tour of his land and his extensive collection of rare artifacts, many of which were found by Hank Jr. himself while indulging in his hobby of metal detecting.
Hank says his passion for finding these treasures began when he was a kid living in Nashville. “Hank and Audrey Williams have got a house out here on Franklin Road, which is basically, you know, there’s quail and deer and rabbits running around. It was out in the woods back then, so when it would rain – (I was) eight, nine, 10, 11, 12 years old – ‘What’s all these things laying here in these little gullies when it rains?’ ‘Bullets.’ ‘Bullets?’ ‘Bullets from what?’ ‘Bullets from the Civil War.’ ‘Oh. What’s that?’ ‘That’s the buttons off a uniform.’ ‘What’s that?’ ‘That’s the bridle off of the horse.’ ‘What’s that?’ ‘That’s the belt buckle.’ ‘What’s that?’ ‘That’s part of a cannonball.’ That will really affect a very young person, and this is in your yard? That’s what got me started.”
On Monday (January 18th), Hank will perform on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
