Hank Williams, Jr. is in New York City this week for a series of media appearances in support of his new album, It’s About Time. He performed on The Tonight Show last night (Monday, January 18th), and this morning (Tuesday, January 19th) fans can catch him on CBS This Morning and ABC’s The View.
Bocephus recently spent several hours with a CBS This Morning crew, taking them to all his favorite spots in Nashville. Among them is Center Point Barbecue in nearby Hendersonville, Tennessee, which Hank Jr. tells us holds a very special place in his heart. “Johnny Cash, June Carter . . . That’s the whole connection. I mean, years ago, (I’d go) and meet Johnny at Center Point Barbeque or go get it and take it back to their house for him and June. There’s quite a connection to Center Point Barbeque. Those pictures are all over the walls, and there’s Johnny and there’s June and there’s little Hank, and it’s quite a place. A lot has happened and gone down in there in the music world.”
Hank Jr.’s appearance on The View will be unlike any other in that he’s collaborating musically with show co-host and good friend Whoopi Goldberg. The two will team up on an It’s About Time album cut called “Wrapped Up, Tangled Up In Jesus (God’s Got It),” which Hank says will be one for the books. “When we do The View and I get my guitar tuned up and Whoopi(and I) start singing ‘Jesus Got A Hook In Me’ look out, cause I’m gonna eat it up and Whoopi’s gonna eat it up. The View’s gonna jump to their feet (laughs). About six minutes of gospel blues Bocephus style. It’s gonna be a real exciting thing.”
Hank’s It’s About Time album was released on Friday (January 15th).
