A Butler man already in trouble with the law made things worse for himself yesterday.
David Bemben, 37, of Lyndora is now facing escape and resisting arrest charges- in addition to the charges he was already facing- because police say he fled, while still handcuffed, from two Pennsylvania State Constables.
The situation started Tuesday morning when probation officers and constables went to Bemben’s Butler Township apartment to arrest him on a traffic warrant and probation violations. While officers were walking Bemben from his apartment, police say he took off running with his hands still cuffed behind his back.
Officers from Butler Township and Butler City helped search nearby woods off Bessemer Avenue near AK Steel for more than two hours. A K-9 officer was also called in.
Authorities did eventually catch up with Bemben early Tuesday afternoon after he tried to make it back to his apartment. He attempted to flee again when first spotted by officers, but was quickly apprehended. He remains in the Butler County Prison.
