The Historic Gristmill at McConnells Mill State Park- just outside of Butler County- opens for the spring and summer season beginning Thursday.
To start, visitors can stop by the 19th century mill four days a week. Interpretive tours of the historic mill, given by staff or volunteer docents, are scheduled at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The mill is open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Beginning Memorial Day weekend through continuing through Labor Day weekend, the mill will be open Tuesdays through Sundays (closed most Mondays, open Memorial Day and Labor Day) from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Admission is free and parking is available at the Kildoo Picnic Area with stone stairs leading to the mill. Limited parking, for people with disabilities, may be available beside the mill. Interpretive tours for groups may be scheduled by calling the Moraine Park office 724 368-8811.
The gristmill is the centerpiece of McConnell’s Mill State Park in Portersville.
