Governor Tom Wolf will have a new secretary of state beginning next year.
His administration announced that Leigh Chapman will become the next acting secretary of the commonwealth starting January 8th.
Chapman formerly worked as a policy director for the department of state from 2015 to 2017. One of her main tasks will be to oversee elections, in what figures to be two hotly contested races next year.
Chapman replaces current Acting Secretary Veronica Degraffenried, who was named to the position in February.
This is now the 5th secretary of state for Tom Wolf in seven years.
