Top Pennsylvania Republicans have submitted an emergency request to the U.S. Supreme Court asking the justices to block the implementation of the state’s new congressional map.
House Speaker Mike Turzai and Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati submitted their application for a stay Wednesday night. They argued the state Supreme Court’s actions violated the U.S. Constitution’s elections clause.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court released a new congressional district map on Monday. It broke Butler County into three districts- the 15th, 16th and 17th.
