A closely-watched race will be for Butler’s next mayor.
Democrat Jamie Lee Goehring is running against Republican Ben Smith. Goehring is 34 years old and runs Hudson Business Service in Butler with her mother and brother.
Smith is 29 years old and one of the owners of Reclamation Brewing- a new brewery in downtown Butler.
Current Mayor Tom Donaldson ran for re-election but was defeated in the primary. He has since mounted a write-in campaign.
The mayor’s annual salary is $10,000.
Four candidates are running for two open seats on Butler City Council. Incumbents Ken Bonus and Kathy Kline are facing James Kemple and Jeff Smith.
