The Glade Run Lutheran Services will be allowed to continue operations but are required to beef up staffing after the sexual assaults committed back in October, 2015.
This is according to post-gazette.com, the State department of Human Services and Glade Run confirmed the settlement Friday. They are required to have more staff on hand on a daily basis along with several other requirements including:
• A child care supervisor to be on campus any time a child is present at any facility and that all staff members have immediate access to the supervisor in the event of an emergency.
• The agency implement new staff ratios for children older than six. It must have one child care worker for every six children during daytime hours, one for every 10 children during sleeping hours and one for every four children during community outings. The state’s usual ratios are one care worker for every eight children during daytime hours and outings and one care worker for every 16 children during sleeping hours.
• Child care workers observe every child at least once every 30 minutes. Observations must be documented.
• The agency develop a management supervision policy under which the director or supervisor will observe children at each facility at least twice per eight-hour shift. The observations must be staggered and documented.
The five-year settlement applies not only to the treatment unit at the center of the state’s inquiry but to all of the agency’s current and future residential and day treatment facilities.
