A 6-year-old girl is dead after being struck by a suspected drunk driver in northern Allegheny County.
The crash happened Saturday night around 10:30 p.m. in Shaler.
Police say 20-year-old Travis Richard Grayson lost control of his Ford Mustang while traveling around a bend. His vehicle struck 6-year-old Ava Campbell and her mother. Ava died a few hours later at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Police say Grayson was traveling 30 miles over the speed limit. He also allegedly told police he had 10 beers and smoked marijuana before the crash.
He is in custody, charged with homicide by vehicle.
