The San Francicso Giants defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 Wednesday and took two of three games in their series. The Pirates lost five of six games this season to San Francisco. Pirate outfielder Starling Marte misplayed a routine fly ball that allowed the winning run in the seventh inning, breaking a 1-1 game. Josh Harrison and Adam Frazier each had two of the Pirates five hits. Pirate starter Trevor Williams allowed one run on five hits over six innings.
The Pirates have now fallen four games behind in the Central Division and to fourth place. The Chicago Cubs have taken a half-game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers. The St. Louis Cardinals have moved a half-game in front of the Bucs.
After a day off today, the Pirates visit the San Diego Padres for three games beginning Friday. First pitch tomorrow is 10:10pm. Pre-game will be 9:45pm on WISR 680am. Saturday’s game is an 8:40pm start. Sunday’s game will begin at 4:40pm.
