Drivers have been enjoying lower gas prices for the last couple of weeks, but analysts say it’s not going to last.
At $2.66 on Friday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Pennsylvania was at its lowest level of the year, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic spokesperson Kathleen Zinszer. This week, AAA says prices in Butler are averaging $2.59.
“Following Friday’s decision by OPEC to cut oil production, PA gas prices are likely headed up again,” Zinszer said.
AAA is offering tips to conserve fuel, including not starting your car up too early- even on those frigid winter mornings.
“Only warm up your vehicle and run the heater just long enough to remove the chill inside,” she said. “Don’t leave it running for 10-15 minutes.”
Officials also remind drivers to make sure their vehicle’s gas tank is at least half full during the winter. That helps reduce condensation in your fuel system, and also ensures you have enough gas to keep your car running in case you get stranded and it’s cold outside.
