A new AAA survey shows that one in five Americans want an electric vehicle.
The auto agency says it’s due to lower-than-average ownership costs for hybrids, increased driving ranges and advanced safety features.
“America’s appetite for electric vehicles is getting stronger every year,” Tom Ashley, AAA East Central Executive Vice President, said. “Whether it’s concerns for the environment, attraction to lower long-term costs or advanced technology, more and more auto buyers are finding reasons to go electric.”
The Tesla Model X earned AAA’s overall award for ‘Top Green Vehicle’; The best compact car was the Nissan Leaf; and the best electric vehicle between $30K-$50K was the Chevrolet Bolt.
