Gas prices have soared in Butler over the past week thanks to a variety of reasons according to AAA.
The average price for a gallon of unleaded self-serve in Butler is $2.80. That’s up 16 cents from last week.
AAA says the increase is a result of expected heavy holiday travel and a decreasing amount of oil available.
The price hike may only be temporary though, as AAA notes the national average for a gallon of gas decreased by five cents from Monday to Thursday during the course of Thanksgiving week last year.
