Gas prices in western Pennsylvania are remaining steady as some residents take vacation trips while some businesses struggle in the green phase of reopening during the pandemic.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, is $2.46 per gallon which is the same compared to last week.
Prices also stayed steady across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week, at $2.47 per gallon. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $ 2.37 per gallon, while the most expensive is $2.51 in Mercer.
The average national gas price rose by a penny this week to $2.18 which is the cheapest it has been over Independence Day since 2004. Demand for gasoline saw a small decline compared to last week as many states are reporting increases in COVID-19 cases.
