After a week with a small decline, gas prices in Butler shot back up over the past week, according to AAA’s weekly gas price report.
The average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler this week is $3.10, which is an increase of 13 cents over last week.
Prices are also averaging $3.10 per gallon for western Pennsylvania as a whole, with a high of $3.16 in Warren and a low of $2.99 in Altoona, according to AAA.
The national price of gas jumped another four cents since last week to set a new high for 2019 at $2.88, which comes out to 63 cents more expensive than at the beginning of the year.
AAA says the global oil market continues to be negatively impacted by ongoing U.S. sanctions against Iran and Venezuela.
