Gas prices have remained mostly steady this week both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, stayed even over the past week at $3.56 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole fell by a penny during that same time to reach $3.55. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.49 per gallon, while the most expensive is $3.60 in Mercer and Oil City.
The average national gas price dropped by two cents over the past week to $3.33. According to AAA, the price of crude oil increased slightly last week along with gasoline demand. Domestic gasoline stocks increased but the decrease of crude inventories along with optimism about global energy demand is keeping prices high at the pumps.
