Gas prices have stayed the same locally but dropped slightly across western Pennsylvania as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, remained even over the past week at $4.28 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by two cents during that same time to also settle at $4.28. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Jeannette at $4.25, while the most expensive is $4.34 in Beaver.
The average national gas price dropped by six cents over the past week to $4.18 which is $1.31 more than a year ago. According to AAA, the price of crude oil has fallen to just under $100 per barrel. The demand for gas continues to decline. Experts believe that the price of gas will continue to drop as long as demand remains lower than expected and gasoline stocks increase.
