Gas prices in western Pennsylvania have continued to move lower, but not significantly, in the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, is $2.72 per gallon which is one cent cheaper than last week.
Prices are about two cents cheaper across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week, averaging $2.80 per gallon. The cheapest gas in the area can be found in Altoona at $2.60 per gallon, while the most expensive is $2.96 in Mercer.
The national gas price average also fell by two cents to $2.63 which is 26 cents cheaper than this date last year but six cents more expensive than last month, according to AAA. Crude oil prices increased slightly last week after Iran announced that one of its oil tankers was struck by what was thought to be a missile in the Red Sea on Friday.
