Memorial Day weekend travelers are paying the highest gas prices they have in four years.
The average price for a gallon of regular, self-serve in Butler is $3.11, according to AAA’s weekly fuel gauge survey. Prices statewide are averaging $3.08. Nationally, the average is $2.93.
While road trippers will pay higher prices at the pump this year, AAA says travelers can expect some relief in their wallets when paying for car rents and most mid-range hotels. At $59, the average daily cost of a car rental this Memorial Day is the lowest rate in the past four years and 11 percent cheaper than last year.
Based on AAA advance national travel bookings, Orlando again tops this year’s list of the most-visited Memorial Day destinations in the country.
